Can Pakistan Still Qualify? Route To The Semi-final Described

Pakistan is on the edge of exiting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 after two narrow losses, but they are still in contention to reach the semifinals.

After losing to Zimbabwe earlier in the Super 12 stage, skipper Babar Azam stated, “To be honest, it’s difficult” (to qualify today).

Pakistan, on the other hand, has a small chance of making it to the knockout stage. Simply put, they must defeat South Africa on Thursday. And if they succeed, Pakistan will still be in with a chance going into the final round of games; Pakistan would then want assistance from the Netherlands, Zimbabwe, or the weather.

Babar and his crew can now only score a maximum of six points. As a result, if they overcome South Africa, the situation will be as follows:

To give Pakistan a chance, either India or South Africa must lose their final game without scoring.

If neither side loses or if South Africa does not win, Pakistan would have a chance to finish in the top two.

If weather causes the Proteas’ match against the Netherlands to be canceled, Pakistan may pass India on net run rate or finish ahead of South Africa due to more victories.

As a result, qualifying for the semi-finals is not theoretically impossible for Pakistan, but circumstances must truly favor them.

Can they at the very least keep their half of the bargain? What awaits them in their final two games?
