While attending the World Government Summit, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the UAE’s vice president, approved the layout and locations of the air taxi stations in Dubai.
Consider having a flying taxi drop you off at your office while you wait at a station. Doesn’t that sound enchanted? According to recent UAE leadership pronouncements, Dubai residents may have this option by 2026.
While attending the World Government Summit, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the UAE’s vice president, approved the layout and locations of the air taxi stations in Dubai.
In a recent tweet, the vice president of the UAE stated that air taxis would be introduced in Dubai in three years. From the World Government Summit, we authorised today the design of the new air taxi stations in Dubai, which will begin operating within three years, he wrote.
The UAE will need to build specialised “vertiports,” which are essentially pieces of infrastructure that make flying and landing electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircrafts easier.
These air taxis will connect Dubai’s four most important areas while also flying through the rest of the city. Downtown Dubai, the Palm Jumeirah, the Dubai Marina, and the Dubai International Airport are all included.
These air taxis, which can carry four passengers plus a pilot, will soar through the air at nearly 300 km/h. I suppose Dubai residents will have no reason to be late.
During the World Government Summit, people had the opportunity to virtually experience flying taxis, giving them a taste of what the future holds.
The Dubai government wants to see the Air Taxi project succeed. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is actively collaborating with Skysports Infrastructure and Joby Aviation to create a seamless network of air taxis by 2026.
