Aur Sunao - Health Professionals Explain Why Children Learn Faster Than Adults

Health professionals have discovered that toddlers and adults have the ability to learn.

According to a German neurologist, children’s memories are faster than adults’ because of a neurotransmitter known as Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid, or GABA.

According to experts, the GABA chemical in children’s brains becomes highly active throughout the learning process, allowing them to absorb a large amount of knowledge and experiences.

German neurologists used the most latest functional MRS technology to examine children’s brain waves while teaching them new information. The activity of the brain (visual cortex) is either higher or lower than in adults.

The minds of 56 young individuals between the ages of 18 and 35, and 55 children between the ages of 8 and 11, were examined many times in this study. Young adults‘ GABA levels remained steady during the experiment, but children’s GABA activity increased throughout and after the learning process.

According to experts, GABA is a critical chemical element for acquiring new concepts and knowledge, as well as retaining information in long-term memory.

Following behavioural acquisition trials on children and adults by the same research team found that neither set of individuals were exhausted after acquiring new knowledge, and they were back to reading and learning after ten minutes. Because of this, children learn quickly and strive to retain a great deal of information.
