Instagram Updates Web App And Adds more Mobile App Features

On Tuesday, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri revealed two significant changes to the site, including planned posts and an intuitive desktop version of the software that will drastically ease users’ lives. Because of the long-standing public demand for these features, according to Mosseri in the video;

This is referred to as a “finally feature” because it should have been completed a long time ago.

The scheduled posts option is designed to help businesses and content creators organize their posts ahead of time. Thanks to the change, creators can now schedule their posts up to 75 days in advance. The feature, which is currently only available on Android, will soon be available on iOS as well.

The other important announcement is the complete revamp of Instagram‘s website. The web version currently differs from the app version and can be difficult to use. To remedy this issue, Instagram is developing a redesigned Instagram.com.

Mosseri added that “we wanted to make Instagram as fantastic of an experience as possible online” because many people multitask online.

The new website will be designed to interact with large-screen monitors, which have become the norm for many people, and will be “faster, cleaner, and easier to use.”

A side pane now has menus and icons for the home screen, search, messages, and alarms. Furthermore, the explore/search page displays a full grid that spans the whole monitor. The new sidebar expands and contracts depending on the screen you’re on.

When you opened a profile in an older version of the web interface, you’d see options like Posts, Guides, Reels, and Tags on top of the grid. If you wanted to navigate to another tab, you had to scroll to the top from wherever you were. The new design tackles this issue by putting these possibilities to the side. Instagram will be easier to use on wide monitors while browsing between numerous tabs thanks to this update, which is being rolled out gradually to users.

Instagram stated earlier this month that select manufacturers would soon be able to make and sell NFTs directly on the site. The NFTs will be available for purchase within the Instagram app immediately. The method, according to Meta, would be carried out through conventional in-app purchases on both iOS and Android. Instagram does not yet take a cut of the money made by producers. Meta is now testing this new option with a restricted group of American authors in order to introduce it to more countries.

Instagram is adding support for the Solana blockchain and Phantom wallet to the blockchains and wallets it already supports, including as Rainbow, MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet, Dapper Wallet, Ethereum, Polygon, and Flow. Additionally, for a limited number of collections whose metadata has been updated by OpenSea, details such as the collection name and descriptions will now be available on Instagram.
