HBO is working on a Harry Potter television series, According to Bloomberg.
A deal with Warner Bros. for a television series based on J.K. Rowling’s book series is nearing completion. The show will be available on cable as well as streaming sites.
While each season will be based on a different book in the series, the series is apparently aiming for a seven-season run.
According to the story, David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, and Casey Bloys, President of HBO, worked together to convince Rowling to produce the new series, which is expected to serve as the cornerstone of a new streaming strategy.
Warner Bros. Discovery has already announced that it wishes to expand the Harry Potter series. Previously, the studio worked on the Fantastic Beasts franchise and the first Harry Potter film adaptations.
Rowling will be involved in the upcoming Harry Potter television series to ensure that it “remains authentic to her original material,” according to Bloomberg, although she is not anticipated to show run or even function as the primary creator.
According to Bloomberg, the HBO Harry Potter television series arrangement is still being worked out, and other details of Warner Bros. Discovery’s new streaming strategy are expected to be disclosed next week.
