Jos Buttler, England’s limited-overs captain, says he is recuperating well from a calf injury but will not be ready for the T20 World Cup, which begins in less than two weeks.
The 32-year-old, who hasn’t played since being injured in The Hundred on August 18, is currently in Pakistan with the England squad, where he is watching the team’s seven-match T20 series from the sidelines.
Butler reports that I am making terrific improvement. While playing would be amazing, we are being cautious because the World Cup is only around the corner.
I’m drinking a few drinks, increasing my workload, and feeling fantastic. I feel I could play if there was a World Cup match tomorrow, but I’m being cautious and moving carefully. If necessary, I could play.
