Karachi: Administrator Declares Plans To Build New City Council Hall

KARACHI: The city’s newly appointed administrator, Dr. Saif-ur-Rehman, has announced plans to build a new City Council Hall for the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) with seating for 500 people, according to ARY News on Sunday.

Karachi’s administrator, Dr. Saif-ur-Rehman, announced in a statement that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has shortlisted four sites for the construction of a new City Council Hall.

According to Dr. Saif-ur-Rehman, the final location decision will be made after the engineering department submits its report. “A budget will be allocated for the construction of the council hall” in the coming fiscal year, he added.

He stated that the current City Council Hall can hold 310 people and that after the Karachi local government (LG) elections, the number of members will increase to 367.

The administrator stated that “in addition to the 500 seats, additional seating capacity will be created” in the new council hall, and that Governor Sindh and Chief Minister Sindh will be informed of this.

The offices of the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Municipal Commissioners will also be housed in the Council Hall building, he announced.

Aladin Park will be built, and Karachi Administrator Dr. Saifur Rehman has promised to open the recreational area for Karachiites as soon as possible.

When Dr. Saifur Rehman visited the Aladin Park site, he announced that the park’s public construction would be accelerated. He told reporters that the necessary departments had been directed to expedite the park’s construction.
