Aur Sunao - KP Launches AI-based School Attendance System

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has introduced artificial intelligence (AI)-based video systems in schools to monitor students’ and teachers’ live attendance in response to an increase in complaints about teacher absenteeism.

The AI-based attendance system in the foundation schools, according to Zarif-ul-Mani, MD of the Elementary Schools Education Foundation (ESEF), will sustain the standard of instruction and increase student achievement.

He also explained how the School Management Information System (SMIS) operates to ensure quality, accountability, and the easy movement of scholarship funds to partners.

He also praised the ESEF’s e-governance branch for resurrecting this project, which had previously been mismanaged.

Furthermore, the idea would lower dropout rates while ensuring that lecturers are present and classes begin on time.

Prior to that, the Sindh government decided to take harsh measures against teachers who received their salaries while staying at home and neglecting their jobs.

According to reports, the provincial education administration has ceased paying more than 2,000 “ghost instructors” across the province.

The education secretary for Sindh, Akbar Laghari, stated in a statement on the decision that they had sent a letter to the AG for Sindh asking him to stop paying the wages of 2,019 phantom instructors.

He went on to say that the department would fire the “ghost teachers” and would go to whatever length to ensure that teachers showed up for work.
