- The Pakistani Army will assist Qatar in its preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
- A contingent is made up of army officers, subordinate commissioned officers, and men.
- For the first time, the extravaganza will be staged in Qatar.
A contingent of the Pakistani Army left for Qatar on Monday to join the security forces allocated to the FIFA World Cup, which begins there in November, adding another honour to Pakistan’s military forces.
The force, made up of Pakistani Army officers, junior commissioned officers, and soldiers, would provide security for the Qatari government during the greatest and most anticipated sports event in Qatar’s history. It will take place from the 20th of November to the 18th of December in 2022.
The spectacle will be hosted in the Gulf country for the first time. It has requested the Pakistan Army for security for the huge event. A four-person delegation from Qatar’s interior ministry visited Pakistan in August to discuss the matter.
In September, an eight-person FIFA international training team visited Pakistan and conducted security training for troops travelling to Qatar for the FIFA World Cup 2022.
The federal cabinet has already approved the Pakistan Army and Qatari agreement to offer assistance during the big football event.
