Pakistan vs. England: Asif Ali wishes to do what he couldn’t in the Asia Cup 2022

Asif Ali, Pakistan’s flamboyant batter, has said that he hopes to enhance his match-finishing ability during the upcoming seven-match T20I home series against England, which begins tomorrow September 20.

Asif said in an interview with Geo News that his ambition for the white-ball series against the visiting team is to be able to do things that he was unable to do at the recently ended Asia Cup 2022.

“Everyone is excited for this series,” Asif Ali said after his training session at Karachi’s National Stadium.

“The coming series will provide us a golden chance to prepare for the next T20 World Cup, which will be held in Australia next month,” the middle-order batsman added.

He said that he is focused on his aim and intends to do what the team wants from him.

When asked what his aim would be for the series, the 30-year-old cricketer revealed that he is working to enhance his match-finishing ability.

“I’m trying to improve my finishing ability because I was unable to finish well at the Asia Cup. I am also discussing with coaches about how I can improve, ” he said.

Asif said that he is trying to emulate the match situation by coming late to the nets, allowing his body to cool down properly after warm-up, as there would be the similar situation during matches.

Asif, who has played 21 ODIs and 45 T20Is for Pakistan, also said his batting role is usually under pressure, but that is what cricket is all about.

He said that; he usually comes to bat on the pitch at a situation when the team needs 12 to 14 runs per over.” also he sometimes only gets to bat in the game’s last over.

Asif added that he aims to prepare thoroughly for the next T20 World Cup since the conditions there would be beneficial for batting.
