Aur Sunao - Pakistan's Students Will Visit Japan Under SAARC Program

A group of nine Pakistani students and a supervisor will visit Japan from February 1-7 as part of the Japan-SAARC Network Program of people-to-people contact known as JENESYS, at the request of the Japanese government.

According to a statement issued by the Japanese Embassy here on Friday, the student delegation consists of a supervisor, four high school students from Westminster Academy Islamabad, and five undergraduate students from COMSATS University Islamabad’s Abbottabad campus.

The Embassy of Japan organised a pre-departure orientation session to present the visiting student delegation with important information and to hand them their travel documents before their departure.

At the time, Japan’s ambassador to Pakistan, Mitsuhiro Wada, congratulated the young students on their selection for the youth exchange programme. He remarked that this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the young minds to understand more about Japan.

The ambassador emphasised the importance of people-to-people contact, saying that youth exchange was “probably the most productive and fruitful method” to continue strengthening connections between the two countries.

Wada sent his best wishes, hoping that the visiting Pakistani students would make friends with the Japanese youth and have lots of opportunities to explore Japanese life, culture, and history while they were there.

The Japanese government established the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS), a youth exchange programme between Japan and the Asia Pacific region, with the purpose of strengthening and improving people’s mutual trust and understanding.

Participants from SAARC countries would get the opportunity to learn more about Japan’s cutting-edge technology, economy, and society, as well as a taste of its traditional culture, during their tour to Japan as part of the JENESYS 2022 programme, it was stated.

As part of the JENESYS 2022 project, the Japanese government has invited 70 high school and college students from SAARC countries to participate in this short-term invitation this year. The effort is expected to enhance understanding between young people in Japan and the SAARC countries as well as capacity building.
