Phoebe Dynevor, the Bridgerton actress who played Daphne Bridgerton in the first two seasons, will not return for season three.
Bridgerton’s widely anticipated third season is presently in production. The first season of the Regency-era drama focused on Daphne and her blossoming love with Regé-Jean Page’s Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings.
In season 2, her role diminished as the focus shifted from Daphne to Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), the eldest brother and a gorgeous bachelor, and Kate Sharma, his new love interest (Simone Ashley).
Daphne from Dynevor will not be returning for one simple reason: she has had her share of celebrations and must now respectfully decline any invitations from the tonne.
Season 3 will instead centre on Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington’s blossoming romance. Luke Newton portrays Colin Bridgerton, while Nicola Coughlan portrays Penelope Featherington.
The first season was launched in December 2020, and it quickly soared to the top of the streamer’s most-watched original series. The show was quickly renewed for a second season after its launch. Season 2 exceeded Season 1, becoming Netflix‘s most-watched English-language show with 627.11 million hours of viewing.
