The polling for the NA-45 Kurram by-elections, in which PTI Chairman Imran Khan is a candidate, is already underway.
Voting began at 8 a.m. and will continue until 5 p.m.
Imran Khan, the PTI’s leader, Jamil Khan of Jamiat Ulema e Islam-Fazal (JUI-F), and Sher Muhammad Khan of Jamaat Islami are among the 16 candidates competing for office (JI).
The PDM-backed Jamil Khan and Imran Khan are expected to compete strongly.
According to the election commission’s spokesman, the constituency has 198,618 registered voters, comprising 111,349 men and 87,269 women.
Voters will cast ballots at 143 polling locations, 24 of which have been labelled as sensitive and 119 as highly sensitive.
According to Arbab Shafiullah, District Police Officer (DPO) Kurram, transportation of poll materials began after security measures for the NA-45 by-elections were finalised.
He stated that the polling place had been allotted to 2,100 police officers.
To ensure the peace during today’s election, the DPO has encouraged political personalities and activists to observe the law and cooperate with police.
