According to a handout distributed on Friday, adventure athlete Samar Khan successfully ascended and snowboarded a 5,610-meter virgin peak, establishing a “new culture of backcountry snowboarding in the nation.”
Khan, a native of KP’s Dir, was the first to reach the summit, followed by her compatriots Azam Baig, Hashir Rafique, Jaffar Ullah, and Zehran Baig.
According to the handout, Khan was the first person to reach the peak’s summit and snowboard there, earning the peak the name “Ghar e Samar.”
In Pakistan, aspirant young people now have access to a new arena of winter extreme sports, which has huge potential given the size of our main mountain ranges.
