The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has issued new laws banning photography and filming at the Great Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madina.
When announcing the new laws, the holiness of the holy sites was considered.
The ministry remarked on Twitter, “In the Two Holy Mosques, we take into account the sensitivity of the environment, thus we have photography etiquette, and we safeguard the rights of others.”
The ministry also noted that in order to perform Umrah, pilgrims must obtain a permit using the Nusuk app and demonstrate the “importance of their devotion to the allowed period.”
