The official trailer and release date for The Boogeyman have both been made public.
The upcoming horror film is based on a Stephen King short story of the same name from the 1970s. The Boogeyman, directed by Rob Savage, is produced by Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, and Dan Cohen, all of whom are regular collaborators.
The primary protagonists of “The Boogeyman” are Sadie Harper, a high school student, and Sawyer, her younger sister, according to the official description. Sadie and Sawyer are grieving the sudden death of their mother, and their father, Will, a therapist who is also grieving, isn’t helping them.
“When a desperate patient unexpectedly shows up at their house seeking assistance, a dreadful supernatural creature that preys on families and feeds on the pain of its victims is left behind,” it said.
Will is played by Chris Messina, Sawyer by Vivien Lyra Blair, Sadie by Sophie Thatcher, Lester by David Dastmalchian, Rita by Marin Ireland, and Sadie by Madison Hu.
The Boogeyman was finally given a theatrical distribution after originally being slated just for Hulu. The film will now be released on June 2nd of this year. It is based on King’s short story “The Boogeyman,” which first appeared in the March 1973 issue of Cavalier for Men.
