This feature, which allows users to directly mute calls from unknown numbers, debuted in the WhatsApp iOS Beta.
Everyone has received a WhatsApp message from an unknown number in the middle of the night. Although having to unlock your phone and block a number to prevent calls from coming through is inconvenient, WhatsApp has finally announced a remedy.
According to a recent WABetaInfo report, WhatsApp iOS Beta now features a new option that allows users to rapidly mute calls from unknown numbers. When you muffle calls with this option, your phone will no longer ring, but the missed calls will still remain in your WhatsApp call history and even in your notification centre.
Users must first navigate to their WhatsApp settings to find a toggle button that will block incoming calls from unknown numbers.
Individuals who frequently receive calls from a large number of persons, as well as those whose phone numbers have been leaked, would substantially benefit from this new feature.
With spam and unexpected callers routinely seeking to steal personal information or even rob users, WhatsApp users will now feel far more safe.
Users have always had the option to block other users, but this new feature will simply allow them to skip calls from annoying numbers, making things easier.
The fact that the feature is currently only available in the WhatsApp iOS Beta may indicate that it will initially be available solely on iOS devices.
